Dr. Jesus Patiño, D.D.S., M.S.

Board Certified Orthodontist

DrPatino.jpgDr. Patiño was born and raised in the Bay Area, spending most of his childhood in San Lorenzo, California. He grew up a scholastic student-athlete playing organized football and basketball while attending the prestigious Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland, California. He played three years of Varsity basketball in which his teams won a combined three H.A.A.L. Championships, two N.C.S. championships, one Nor-Cal championship, and were runner-ups in the State Championship in his senior year. While achieving high levels of success on the basketball court, he was also able to achieve high levels of success in the classroom by being nominated and inducted into the National Honors Society in 2004. He attended the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) for his undergraduate education, where he earned a B.S. in Health Science and he was a member of the Slug’s men’s basketball team in his final year.

After his graduation from UCSC, he was accepted into dental school at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and he received his D.D.S. in 2012. While at UCSF dental school, he received multiple scholarships and awards for his academic success and held many leadership positions, including a national position with the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) which focused on the recruitment of minorities into dentistry. Dr. Patiño chose to enrich his dental education by pursing his passion of orthodontics and applying to residency. He matched at his top residency choice, UCSF Orthodontics. While in residency at UCSF he was the chief resident of his class and received the Colgate-Palmolive Company Dental Residency Scholarship from the Hispanic Dental Association (HDA). In 2015, he received his Orthodontic Certificate from UCSF and became American Board of Orthodontics diplomat eligible. In 2015, he also completed his thesis on “Treatment Outcomes utilizing TADs for Mandibular Dental Distalization” receiving his M.S. in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences.

Aside from his academic accomplishments, Dr. Patiño enjoys spending his free time with his family, friends, and two dogs. He still enjoys playing multiple sports, hiking, weightlifting, running, and exploring different restaurants for new cuisine experiences. Dr. Patiño is excited to create esthetic smiles, functional occlusions, and an enjoyable orthodontic experience for his patients as a part of the Olympic Orthodontics family.

DrMatt.jpgDr. Matthew Cozin, D.D.S., M.S.

Board Certified Orthodontist

Dr. Cozin was born in Manhasset, New York and grew up in Bernardsville, New Jersey. While growing up, he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball and music. During high school, he continued these interests by performing in many bands and playing varsity baseball for all four years. During his junior and senior year, he was selected to All-State honors in baseball.

His fascination in life sciences lead him to pursue a degree in biology at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. After college, he moved to Manhattan and worked as a researcher at Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine, where he also completed his D.D.S. While in dental school, he continued his research and published in numerous prestigious dental journals. In 2012, he was awarded the Daniel M. Laskin Award for authoring the most outstanding article in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Through positive experiences with patients and mentors at Columbia University, he made the decision to further his education by completing his orthodontic residency at the University of California San Francisco, where he also served as chief resident and received a master’s degree in orofacial sciences.

Matt currently lives in San Francisco and is considered board eligible by the American Board of Orthodontics. In his free time, he enjoys jogging, hiking, biking and volunteering for dental missions. He also loves rock music, cooking and eating!
